NGUYEN MINH TUONG

Ph.D. student, Engineering and Information Technology, University of Technology Sydney

Research Interest

My research focuses on optimization, a field dedicated to making smart decisions for the best possible outcomes. This means things like boosting profits, increasing societal benefits, or efficiently allocating resources to meet uncertain demands.

One area where optimization is applicable is in managing high blood sugar. Doctors often struggle to find the most effective medication quickly, as initial treatments like metformin don’t always work, and assessing new drugs takes weeks. These techniques could help develop strategies to swiftly identify the best treatment for patients.

Beyond this, these techniques could also optimize hospital blood inventory management, balancing blood type compatibility and a limited shelf life to minimize waste and ensure supply. Other potential future applications include stocking perishable inventory, ensuring parts for manufacturing, or even optimizing click-ad and marketing budgets.
