Vingroup-NTU Graduate Scholarship

On November 20, 2019, Vingroup and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, signed a gift agreement to sponsor full scholarships for Vietnamese talents to pursue graduate degree programs in science and technology fields at NTU. This is an initial important step, laying the foundation for the cooperation between Vingroup, VinUniversity, and NTU in the future.

Under the Gift Agreement between Vingroup and NTU, Vietnamese candidates under 30 years of age who wish to pursue a Master’s degree and under 35 years of age who wish to pursue a Ph.D. in science and technology at NTU are eligible to apply for the Vingroup scholarship. This scholarship covers all tuition and living expenses which is worth around S$300,000/ Ph.D. scholarship and S$150,000/Master’s scholarship. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants need to pass NTU’s admission process and demonstrate their outstanding research capabilities and a strong desire to contribute to the development of Vietnam.

The agreement was signed by Dr Le Mai Lan, Vingroup’s Vice Chairwoman cum President of the VinUniversity Project, and Professor Ling San, Provost and Vice President (Academic) of NTU Singapore in Hanoi, Vietnam.

This generous gift from Vingroup will be invaluable in attracting and supporting some of Vietnam’s most talented young postgraduate students. As a university dedicated to providing opportunities for world class higher education and research, we are grateful for Vingroup’s support. We hope that this will inspire other donors to create similar scholarship funds at NTU.

Vingroup Graduate Scholarship

Vietnamese students who are pursuing a Master’s or a Ph.D. degree in the areas of science, technology, and engineering, and who fulfil NTU’s admissions requirements may apply for the scholarship. Each scholarship award covers full tuition and miscellaneous fees, and provides a monthly stipend.
 
 
Eligibility criteria
  • You must have a minimum of Honours (Distinction) or its equivalent
  • You should not be on paid employment or accept paid employment or concurrently hold any other scholarship, fellowship, bursary or top-up allowance during the prescribed period of the award
Coverage
  • The award is tenable for one year in the first instance and is renewable subject to good progress. The maximum period of the Scholarship is 2 years for Master’s candidates and 4 years for PhD candidates, as determined by school as well as availability of research funding in each case.
  • Monthly stipend
  • For scholars who pass the Ph.D. Qualifying Examination/Confirmation, he/she may be eligible for an additional stipend of up to $500 per month. The increased in stipend is subjected to good performance in research and the attainment of required standards for courses taken. The University reserves the right to vary the amount of the stipend at any time by written notice.
  • In addition to the monthly stipend, the award also covers the annual tuition fee.
Service obligation from Vingroup​
The Scholarship recipients enrolled into the Master’s Programs are expected to return to Vietnam within one (1) year of their graduation at NTU; and those enrolled into the PhD Programs are expected to return within two (2) years of their graduation at NTU, in order to contribute to the science and technology industry in Vietnam by working or serving in Vietnam for either a Vietnamese public university or research institute or work for a member company of the Donor, for the number of years of support that they received from the Scholarship.​
 
Research work and duties
  • You must undertake to carry out research work at NTU as directed by the Chair of the School concerned.
  • Upon your confirmation of PhD candidature, you will be required to assist your School in teaching duties for three hours a week.  There will be no remuneration.
  • In addition, the School, at its discretion, may appoint you to assist in academic or administration work not exceeding 10 hours of work per week. There may or may not be any remuneration.

You can choose to apply either via NTU’s online application portal or through Vingroup Scholarship application form. If apply through NTU, complete the “Application for Scholarship” section in your application form.

Note: Please make sure you meet the deadlines by NTU. The timeline of the Vingroup Scholarship Program application might not align completely with that of NTU.
