The Vingroup Scholarship Program for Cohort 2023 has identified the 40 Vingroup Scholars who will be pursuing Master’s, Ph.D., postdoctoral programs in selected science/technology at top ranked universities (University of Pennsylvania, Carnegie Mellon University, University of California San Diego, University of Sydney, University of Technology Sydney, etc.). The profiles of these scholars are available HERE.
On July 5th & July 6th, 2023, Vingroup Scholarship Program organized the Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) and Vingroup Scholarship Award Ceremony for 40 new scholars of Cohort 2023. These students have successfully passed all the competitive selection rounds and are commencing their programs from Fall 2023. For the first time, 10 VinUni students have been awarded Vingroup scholarships to pursue their 3+2 programs at the world’s top leading universities, including the University of Pennsylvania, University of Sydney, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of Queensland, and University of Technology Sydney. Being awarded a scholarship at a renowned university is a great honor and opens up new doors of opportunity for these talented VinUni students. It not only validates their academic performance but also provides them with the chance to broaden their horizons, gain exposure to diverse perspectives, and engage in research and innovation to make significant contributions to the development of science and technology in Vietnam.
During Day 1 of the PDO, the Vingroup Scholars Cohort of 2023 had the chance to visit several P&Ls within the Vingroup ecosystem, including VinFast – the pioneering automotive manufacturer; Vinmec – the acclaimed healthcare institution; and VinAI – the cutting-edge artificial intelligence research hub. Throughout the visit, the scholars engaged in fruitful dialogues with senior leaders, gaining profound insights into the P&Ls, becoming inspired by their unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation. The Vingroup Scholars were also warmly greeted by the Vingroup Scholars Alumni who are already established as part of the Vingroup family. These dynamic VGR Scholars, diligently working at VinFast, Vinmec, and VinAI, wholeheartedly embraced the visiting delegation and introduced possibilities for the new scholars to stay engaged with Vingroup P&Ls as they start their graduate study overseas.
Day 2 of the PDO was the Scholarship Award Ceremony attended by the senior representatives from the Embassies of Australia, United States, United Kingdom, and France; VinUni leaders, faculty, scholars’ family members and other invited guests.
Sharing in the ceremony, Dr. Le Mai Lan (Vice Chairwoman of Vingroup, President of VinUniversity) expressed: “The future of Vietnam and the future of the world depend on the youth. Vingroup wishes to support and provide opportunities for talented young intellectuals to access the advanced education in the world. We believe that you will learn the best from the most skilled individuals and contribute to the advancement of science and technology, creating a new mark for Vietnam’s science and technology on the global intellectual map.”
The British Ambassador to Vietnam, H.E Iain Frew shared: “I trust each of you will contribute to the development of the community, to Vietnam’s development and to the global challenges that we all face. Congratulations to Vingroup and VinUniversity on the Vingroup Scholarship Program which would help to provide opportunities for outstanding Vietnamese students to pursuit Master’s and Ph.D. Degree Programs at leading universities in the world including in the UK”.
According to The Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, H.E Andrew Goledzinowski: “Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarship has provided opportunities for young Vietnamese intellectuals with great talent and aspirations. We are particularly impressed that scholarship recipients are not required to work at Vingroup. The vision and well-planned investment strategy of Vingroup has been creating positive change for the future of Vietnam’s science and technology sectors.”
