Vingroup pledges a gift of S$ 5 million to Nanyang Technological University (NTU)

On November 20th2019, Vingroup and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, signed a gift agreement to sponsor full scholarships for Vietnamese talents to pursue graduate degree programs in science and technology fields at NTU. This is an initial important step, laying the foundation for the cooperation between Vingroup, VinUniversity Project and NTU in the future.

Under the Gift Agreement between Vingroup and NTU, Vietnamese candidates under 30 years of age who wish to pursue a Master’s degree and under 35 years of age who wish to pursue a Ph.D. in science and technology at NTU are eligible to apply for the Vingroup scholarship. This scholarship covers all tuition and living expenses which is worth around S$300,000/ Ph.D. scholarship and S$150,000/Master’s scholarship. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants need to pass NTU’s admission process and demonstrate their outstanding research capabilities and a strong desire to contribute to the development of Vietnam.

After graduation, scholarship recipients can stay and work in Singapore for two years (for Ph.D. graduates) and one year (for Master’s graduates), before returning to Vietnam to contribute to the development of science and technology of the country.

The establishment of the Vingroup Scholarship Program at NTU will provide excellent Vietnamese students with opportunities to study and research in the world’s leading educational environment. Following this agreement, we will explore opportunities to expand the cooperation between Vingroup, VinUniversity and NTU in such areas as research, training and development of specialist human resources for the future.

NTU is a world-class research university with 33,000 students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate studies in engineering, technology, business, social sciences and humanities. NTU is currently ranked 11thin the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2019/20. From 2018 to present, NTU has consistently been ranked 1stin the field of Materials Science and the 2ndin Computer Science according to the rankings of US News. Especially, for 6 consecutive years, NTU has been at the top of the list of Top 50 universities under 50 years old.

Prof. Ling San, NTU Provost shared that thanks to Vingroup’s Gift, it will inspire other businesses and organizations to set up similar scholarship funds at NTU.

The Gift Agreement for Vietnamese talents to pursue Masters/Ph.D. programs at NTU is part of the Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarship Program for Overseas Study for Masters and Doctoral Degrees from 2019 to 2030, which is managed by VinUniversity Project. In addition to this program, Vingroup also has a Masters/Ph.D. scholarship program supporting students studying at Vietnamese universities specializing in science, technology or medicine, managed by the Vingroup Innovation Fund (VinIF).
